Canadian Ancestry Why Do A Lot Of White Americans/Canadians Try To Claim Native American/Canadian Ancestry?

Why do a lot of white Americans/Canadians try to claim Native American/Canadian ancestry? - canadian ancestry

I'm mostly Indians, but I know a little bit. I noticed it when we had a parade there was a lot of white in the parade of others myself and the Dakotas.

because they are ashamed that I know, of course. want to go for the locals, because they think it's cool. but you never see the pretindians at the front, or to have the good fight. Who want to be straight, a native of the powwow weekend and what they think gives them prestige.

sad reality of being hate themselves.

ETA: It is important to remember that there is not much "free". Aboriginal nations can provide scholarships or other things, but only registered citizens of their nation ... Person who as a native. Governments and do not give free stuff to the natives. if they could live in many cases, under the conditions that some make.

ETA: Alpha Betty could not put it clearer. Good for you.

My great-grandmother of First Nations, but my brother and I do know is (very dark skin, my father and my grandfather was actually part native). I would never tell anyone, he was part native, nor to my father especially, because I do not like it, and I know little about the local culture and feel weird trying to recover part of something that I feel I have not right. I think the reason why white people want so badly, as part of the origin, by a culture that is very romantic. I have a course in Native Studies at my university and many traditional notions of respect for nature and the world, etc., are romantic. The First Nations have a long history with the land in North America and white people might feel it gives them more right here more than a relationship with headquarters. . . . It's almost as if everyone is like a piece of Ireland in ST. Pies a day, sometimes you want to demand the right to romantic aspects, or for the pleasure of a culture without experienced suffering and discrimination.

Most of the time your equipment for free. Well, as I said, "most of the time," sometimes there are people who know "little", which are really at home and they want to participate with their indigenous heritage. There is nothing wrong with that! In how they are really to the traditions and culture try to understand. Well, I hope that years and years and years on the road, they say that my great-great-granddaughter, are children of n 'can be any color that I continue to hope they are proud to be part of the Indians and involved in their heritage.

1. They believe they will get scholarships, jobs, money.
2. Promoting a lifestyle fictional character in the film, the environment and the whole man, spiritual leader, etc.
3. To play dress up Indian amateur clubs, parades and Pow Wow.

Nobody wants to be Peruvian, Filipino, Arabic or Italian, if not the nationalities.

There is no advantage in the claims.

If you were white, not something that I can claim to cling?

This is why so many white Americans are all like Cherokee: "I'm 1/64th" because it remembered the only tribe to the name.

I am 7 Lakota Sioux. I demand a relationship Iyotaka Tatanka.

Maybe I'm too cynical, but IMO probably only want the benefits that come from a country!
